In November 2018, Dan was elected to Texas’s Second Congressional District. In Congress, he was appointed to the Homeland Security Committee and the Budget Committee. He was also named Ranking Member of the Oversight, Management, and Accountability Subcommittee of the Homeland Security Committee.
Born to American parents in Aberdeen, Scotland, Crenshaw grew up in Katy, Texas. While his father worked in the oil industry, Crenshaw spent time growing up in Ecuador and Colombia, gaining a proficiency in Spanish. In 2006, he graduated from Tufts University, where he earned his Naval officer commission through Navy ROTC. Following graduation, he immediately reported to SEAL training in Coronado, CA. After serving as Lieutenant Commander for ten years in the SEAL Teams, he retired. He left the service with two Bronze Stars (one with Valor), the Purple Heart, and the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, among others.
