About John Hark, Ed Bastian and Grant Wattman
About John Hark
John Hart has been in the Houston maritime industry for more than 25 years and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Administration. He started with FH Bertling in 2002 as Director of North America Vessel Operations. After moving to Bertling’s logistics division, he held various management roles within the North and South America regions. He has recently returned to Bertling’s ship owning & operating division as Director of Chartering for North America. In addition to his position with Bertling, he has been an Adjunct Professor with Texas A&M University since 2002. Prior to joining Bertling, he was with Enron Industrial Markets as a Supply Chain Manager, was with Argosy Shipping/BBC Chartering & Logistic, and was Branch Manager for the international NVOCC Damco Maritime. John is the current President of the Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association, chairs advisory councils for Lone Star College and Houston Community College, is a member of the Galveston College Advisory Committee, sits on the Board of the Port Houston Partners in Maritime Education program and is a past President and past Scholarship Director for ITMA. John is also an active member of the Editorial Advisory Board for Breakbulk Magazine and the Exporters Competitive Maritime Council.
About Ed Bastian
Ed Bastian joined BBC Chartering in August of 2007. He currently serves as Global Sales Director and leads the strategic sales plan for the largest global breakbulk and project chartering fleet in the world. During his 38 year career, Bastian has held management positions with NYK North America, Evergreen Marine, Port of Long Beach, Jones Stevedoring and Nautilus Leasing, Payne Webber and Morgan Stanley. Bastian is an active member of industry organizations including International Transportation Management Association of Houston, Railway Industrial Clearance Association and the Editorial Advisory Board for Breakbulk Magazine.
Grant Wattman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Agility Project Logistics, Inc., a specialized business of Agility Global Integrated Logistics (GIL). Wattman has more than 45 years of industry experience in leadership roles in the complex and volatile service, engineering, modal and industrial manufacturing sectors. He has tactical experience in project management and operations in more than 60 countries for government and commercial entities. Wattman holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies from York University, Toronto, Canada, where he is Chairman Emeritus of The Logistics Institute. He is an active member of Breakbulk Magazine Editorial Board, Exporters Competitive Maritime Council and other professional organizations.
