Commerce Club Luncheon Series

The Commerce Club is an educational networking event for maritime and transportation professionals. On the 2nd Thursday of every month, meet at Brady's Landing on the Houston Ship Channel to network with other leaders in the Port Community. As industry leaders, elected officials, and the heads of governmental agencies, the Commerce Club's speakers know that you live and work in the Port Region every day, and speak to issues that directly affect your bottom line.

January Commerce Club & Annual Membership Meeting: CAPT Kevin Oditt, USCG

 

CAPT Kevin Oditt, USCG

Capt. Kevin D. Oditt became commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston, overseeing all ports and waterways in the region including the Houston Ship Channel and Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in April 2017. Oditt was previously assigned as the chief of prevention at the Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans where he oversaw all aspects of Coast Guard Prevention operations, including marine inspection, casualty investigations, recreational boating safety, and volunteer Auxiliary program.

Other operational assignments include Coast Guard Cutter’s ALERT and VIGOROUS, Marine Inspector at Marine Safety Office Port Arthur, TX, Chief of Inspections at Marine Safety Office Tampa, FL, and Chief of Prevention at Sector Long Island Sound, New Haven, CT. He served at Coast Guard Headquarters in the office of Design and Engineering Standards, Port Security Directorate, Staff Chief for the Deputy Commandant for Operations, and Division Chief in the Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance.

Oditt is a 1992 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He earned advanced degrees from the University of Michigan in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and Manufacturing and the Marine Corps War College in Strategic Studies.
