Organization Overview
The International Longshoremen's Association is the largest union of maritime workers in North America, representing upwards of 65,000 longshoremen on the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, Great Lakes, major U.S. rivers, Puerto Rico, and Eastern Canada.
Longshore work is some of the most strategic of all maritime employment. Their role at the fulcrum of cargo transportation between land and sea gives longshore workers a crucial position in global and national economies.
