SGS Approved as Official Reviewer for SIX Swiss Exchange ‘Climate Equity’ Flag

Member Updates,

SGS, a leading testing, inspection and certification company, has been selected by SIX Swiss Exchange, the stock market regulator, as one of only two sustainability experts to be approved reviewers for its newly launched ‘1.5°C Climate Equity’ flag.

SIX created this flag to help Swiss listed companies to demonstrate their contributions towards limiting global warming to 1.5°C, strengthen their commitments to reduce their emissions and work to adapt to the impacts of climate change.

As a leader in sustainability, SGS will check whether listed companies applying for the voluntary flag meet all its requirements. The clients will need to submit an Emission Plan which will be assessed by SGS sustainability experts, through a forward-looking review leading to a confirmation opinion. If granted, the SGS assessment report will be published on the clients’ website. The flag is valid for one year and must be renewed annually with an updated confirmation.

This partnership with SIX further demonstrates SGS’s expertise in measuring, assessing, reporting and monitoring all aspects of sustainability, including climate, nature preservation, circularity and ESG assurance.

“We are thrilled to partner with SIX Swiss Exchange to independently review the decarbonization goals of publicly listed companies. As an organization with many sustainability accolades and awards, we take this responsibility seriously and will apply our expertise, objectivity and rigor to this important endeavor,” said Géraldine Picaud, CEO of SGS. “This will not only increase the recognition of our clients’ sustainability efforts but will also enhance their reputation while helping investors make more informed decisions regarding sustainability matters.”

SGS is recognized as a global benchmark for sustainability, quality and integrity. Their 99,600 employees operate a network of 2,600 offices and laboratories around the world.
